Atrial Natriuretic Peptide Secretion Salvaging Endocrine Function in Patients With Acute Right Ventricular Infarction

چکیده
Background The heart has been demonstrated not only to be a pumping organ but also an endocrine organ secreting atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP). We hypothesized that myocardial ischemia may affect ANP secretion and that reperfusion therapy for acute myocardial infarction can preserve endocrine function of the heart. Methods and Results Twenty patients with acute right ventricular infarction were examined who underwent reperfusion therapy on admission. These patients had proximal occlusion of the dominant right coronary artery involving the right atrial branches: 9 patients with successful reperfusion (SRP group) and the remaining 11 patients with unsuccessful reperfusion (URP group). Within 24 hours after the onset of infarction, a volume loading test was performed after reperfusion therapy with measurements for plasma ANP levels and hemodynamics. Before the volume loading test, the plasma ANP level and

متن کاملAssessment of the left atrial volume index and plasma NT-proANP level in patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction
OBJECTIVES Acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction is associated with ventricular dysfunction due to ischemia-induced progressive myocardial damage. The decrease in ventricular compliance causes left atrial dilatation and stretching of the atrial myocardium, which are the main stimuli for the secretion of atrial natriuretic peptide. The aim of this study was to evaluate left atrial dimensions ...
متن کاملDeconvolution analysis of cardiac natriuretic peptides during acute volume overload.
Cardiac natriuretic peptides, especially amino terminal pro-Brain Natriuretic Peptide (NT-proBNP), are emerging as powerful circulating markers of cardiac function. However, the in vivo secretion and elimination (t1/2) of these peptides during acute volume overload have not been studied. We present the first report of the secretion and elimination of cardiac natriuretic peptides, based on decon...
متن کاملRight coronary artery stenosis is associated with impaired cardiac endocrine function during exercise.
AIMS Resting plasma levels of atrial natriuretic peptide and B-type natriuretic peptide rise with left ventricular dysfunction, but little is known about effects of cardiac ischaemia on atrial natriuretic peptide and B-type natriuretic peptide levels during exercise. We investigated exercise levels of atrial natriuretic peptide and B-type natriuretic peptide in patients with suspected angina to...
متن کاملEffect of six weeks low intensity interval training on expression of atrial and brain natriuretic peptide genes following myocardial infarction in rat
Background: Myocardial infarction (MI) is the irreversible cell death caused by ischemia in parts of myocardium. Atrial and Brain natriuretic peptides (ANP and BNP) are known as strong markers of myocardial infarction. This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of six weeks low intensity interval training on ANP and BNP genes expression in rats following myocardial infarction. Materials and m...
